HV/EHV Substations
To meet India’s rapidly growing power demand, the country’s transmission and distribution infrastructure is being continuously strengthened to enable reliable transfer of electricity from generation sources to major consumption centers. High-capacity transmission corridors—comprising 765 kV AC, ±800 kV 6000 MW HVDC, 400 kV AC, and ±500 kV/±600 kV HVDC systems—have been strategically planned to facilitate long-distance bulk power transfer from remotely located generation facilities. The national focus remains on developing a future-ready power system through upgrading existing networks, adopting advanced EHV/UHV AC and HVDC technologies, deploying compact towers and substations, mitigating high short-circuit levels, and enabling intelligent grid solutions. As of 31 July 2021, India’s transmission network at 220 kV and above comprised 443,371 circuit kilometers of transmission lines and 1,036,860 MVA of transformation capacity.

NBS also provides comprehensive uprating and reconductoring solutions for transmission networks ranging from 33 kV to 400 kV, including tower strengthening, HTLS conductor replacement, and installation of associated fittings and insulators. These solutions are engineered to significantly enhance power transfer capacity while ensuring uninterrupted supply, supported by robust training, maintenance, and post-installation services. With successful delivery of over 50 complex projects covering more than 1,250 circuit kilometers, NBS has consistently achieved more than twice the original ampacity. Additionally, NBS enables capacity enhancement within existing 66 kV transmission corridors by strengthening towers and monopoles, eliminating the need for new ROW and minimizing system downtime.
